In 2008, with an eye on growth & expansion, Schuyler John joined Gatterdam. In 2011, we rebranded as Gatterdam Industrial Services (GIS) to reflect a broader range of services and power transmission products.

Company Timeline

In 1954

Gatterdam Electric Motors (GEM) was born. Ed Gatterdam and Lloyd Goemer started an electric motor repair business at 114 N. 30th Street in Louisville, KY. They concentrated on providing quality service at competitive prices. Ed's son, Fred Gatterdam, joined the company in 1977.

In 1995

Gatterdam Electric Motor became the 1st North American distributor of Weg Electric Motors.

In 1997

Gatterdam Electric Motor expanded their facility to over 11,000 square feet.

In April of 2008

Schuyler John joined GEM. With Schuyler's background in sales and operations, GEM implemented technical, service, operational and equipment advances that built upon GEM's outstanding customer service record and abilities.

In October of 2011

We completed the acquisition of Atlas Machine & Supply's "Pump Division". This addition bolstered our pump specific business by adding the ability to design pump systems, perform field service, improve our pump rebuild capabilities & became exclusive distributors of various pumps lines in our region.

In October of 2014

We moved to a new 22,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility on 4615 Bittersweet Road. We further expanded the facility by close to 4,000 sq. ft the following year.

In July of 2015

We invested in Motorbase, which was a critical advancement in our ERP system that tracks quotes, orders, jobs, inventory, etc which in turn increases efficiency & allows us to capitalize on historic data.

In September of 2015

At that time, we became only the 59th Accredited Service Center in the world out of over 1900 EASA shops. It is further proof of our commitment to quality.
